Happy accidents

I decided to rework last Thursdays result of life drawing class.
Almost threw it away when things went from bad to worse but when I scraped things down with my palette knife some happy accidents happened and I decided to rework certain passages.

Always fun to paint scruffy looking bearded guys. Woman too I guess but I don't see many bearded women..

Holiday results

Apologies for not posting but I've been on a holiday.
Normally on a holiday I bring my painting gear, full of plans to paint every day.
And normally, the paints stay untouched for the whole holiday :)

This time however, I managed to do a few paintings and below are the results.

This time in lifepainting class we set up a strong spotlight again and made the rest of the room dark to accentuate light and shadow. We had a new model sit for us, which always takes some getting used to especially since she was wearing glasses.
Tricky to paint, I tried to only paint the light spots to suggest the form of the spectacles.

Thursdaynight life drawing class. This time, focus was on using color so I used more saturated reflected lights this time.

Ginette on the cello

Today me and a couple of artist friends were painting at the residence of Hans Verbeek, where his wife was playing the cello for us.
Lots of fun, but very hard to capture a moving subject.

First time in a long while I've tried acrylics again after seeing some great acrylic paintings done by Marc Hanson and Hans Verbeek.
I must say I really liked the experience. This one was done using Golden Open acrylics which stay open for a few hours.
